Tomato Red Mohair Brioche Sweater

Sweater on couch

I finished this sweater on October 25, 2023 and started it on August 4, 2023. I had planned on knitting it really quickly so that I could wear it to a trip to Iceland in September, but of course that didn't happen, and instead I just knit in Iceland.

I used the Degen Brioche Bubble Crew pattern that I found on Ravelry, and I wasn't super happy with the instructions as there were a few mistakes, but I was able to frog back and fix problems that came up.

I also opted to knit this sweater flat instead of in the round as the pattern requires because I found that I hate knitting brioche in the round, and don't mind seaming too much. The sweater is made with two strands of yarn held together - Aloft Mohair, and Palette Peruvian Highland Wool. The result is honestly the squishiest softest sweater I've ever made myself. I was a bit concerned because Palette doesn't have the softest handfeel, but the mohair just pads it and made it absolutely beautiful to touch. The scratchiness level of this sweater is maybe a 2 out of 10 - really really tolerable for natural animal hair type fibres.

I've also posted this make over on Ravelry - feel free to add me as a friend on there if you come upon this blog post!
